Vintage Natural White Dyed Iguana Lizard Tagua Carving

Hand carved from sustainably harvested tagua nut, often called “vegetable ivory”, this charming Iguana celebrates the rich biodiversity of the Latin American rainforest. Each small sculpture is created by skilled artisans in Panama who carefully shape and polish the natural nut before bringing the animal to life with detailed hand painting. This carving has been dyed with the dye made by this artist's wife. She makes dye for the fiber she uses on her baskets. This technique was popular back in the 1990's.
