Vintage Natural White Sea Turtle Tagua Carving

Hand carved from sustainably harvested tagua nut, often called “vegetable ivory”, this charming Turtle celebrates the rich biodiversity of the Latin American rainforest. Each small sculpture is created by skilled artisans in Panama who carefully shape and polish the natural nut before bringing the animal to life with detailed hand painting. This natural white turtle carving is a good example of how tagua darkens with age, just like ivory. I estimate this carving as 30 + years. I think I bought it in the early 1990's.
