Vintage Natural White And Dyed Anteater Tagua Carving

Hand carved from sustainably harvested tagua nut, often called “vegetable ivory”, this charming Anteater celebrates the rich biodiversity of the Latin American rainforest. Each small sculpture is created by skilled artisans in Panama who carefully shape and polish the natural nut before bringing the animal to life with detailed hand painting. Here's something special. Back in the early 1990's the tagua carvers started dipping their white carvings in their wives basket fiber dyes.  That's the case here. Once dyed they would polish until they got the luster back.
